I'ved always wondered why Jesus said to Peter that all I need to do is wash your feet and your whole will be cleaned. It made me wonder if the dirt on the feet represented the world and all it's baggage and garbage that gets on us. Then I thought of grace. If Jesus cleans the worlds dirt from our feet (sin) He breaks that connection between us and the world and the staining power of the world is broken. Maybe to wash someones feet is to bath them in the truth of Christ by presenting them with the love of the Father demonstrated in His Son and this sets them free from the staining effect of the world (Satan, sin and condemnation) and makes them clean from head to toe. I think the hardest thing I do as a Christian is remembering that I am no longer trash, that I have been made clean becuase my feet are clean even though my body still carries around the dirt of this world, Satan keeps telling me to look in the mirror and see how filthy I am and all I really need to do is look at my feet, they are that really matters...
