Getting Noticed!
Feb. 9 Reading.
My foot was pinned! I was in pain! I was 10 feet above the ground and no way to get free. I had to wait…for somebody…anybody to come and help me. I prayed. For one of the first times in my life I prayed and patiently waited. My friends were amazed. They told me so later; after I had returned from the hospital where it was discovered I was not seriously injured but had a sprained ankle and some cuts and abrasions. Several large wooden roof framing trusses had slipped loose and pinned my foot and ankle to another truss that was already fastened in place. I was standing on top of a 10 foot wall and had to wait in pain for my rescue, which seemed like a very long time. It was then my friends knew something had happened to me that they could not doubt or understand. Only weeks before if the same thing would thing would have happened I would have started swearing and screaming at everything that was going on. This time was different. I prayed…did I mention that? It was very strange for me…and for my friends. I didn’t necessarily pray out loud, I just knew God was there in my distress and I acknowledged his presence and waited for his help…my rescue. People noticed the calm in my life at that moment. I was very glad. I knew something had changed in me as well.
Psalm 40:1 – 3 “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.”
